"This book has been forensically researched and expertly produced by Steve Dickinson and Lyndon Lloyd, two royal blue wordsmiths. It provides a comprehensive and balanced account of events both on and off the field between 2014-2024, and is a must-read for anyone interested in the challenges facing Everton Football Club and its future well-being. That said, I have encouraged the publisher to include a Warning Notice for Evertonians raised in the era of Sir John Moores, The Golden Vision and The Holy Trinity, that exposure to the book's contents may cause nausea, insomnia, uncontrollable crying and alcohol dependency."

what is the UNOFFICIAL Everton TIMELINE?
In August 2010, Everton Football Club unveiled the ‘official’ Everton Timeline. Stretching around Goodison Park, the 123 monochromatic images chart the club’s pick of major events in the Toffees illustrious past.
Though updated periodically, the final image on Goodison Road celebrates the signing of Romelu Lukaku in 2014. Did time stand still for Everton Football Club, or has it simply failed to acknowledge the struggles which occurred during one of the most eventful periods in its 146-year history?
Inspired by the significant gaps in the club’s ‘official’ timeline, the Unofficial Everton Timeline was born, with a vision of presenting the full story of Everton Football Club - both on and off the pitch - from the founding of the club in 1878, right up to the present day.
In typical contrary fashion, we began in the present day with a book that has been described as “The definitive book on the Moshiri years.” by Gavin Buckland. Further books in the Unofficial Everton Timeline are planned, with the next due to be released later in 2025.
In the first volume, covering the period from 2014-2024 - The Moshiri Years- and incorporating a foreword from Dr David France, we fill in all the gaps, on and off the field, during the tumultuous years of Farhad Moshiri’s ownership.
More than a book about modern-day football, the book documents unbridled ambition crashing into chaotic reality between 2014-2024.
It is a comprehensive and detailed chronicle of important matches, big dreams, colossal financial investments, unproductive transfers, property deals and engineering marvels. But most of all, it is a book about people: moneymen, conflicting egos in the boardroom, highly rewarded players, and the real heroes of the story - a community of passionate Everton fans.
In the updated second edition of the book, we've taken stock and examined what really happened after Everton's 'messiah' owner, Farhad Moshiri, arrived on the scene, and how The Friedkin Group became the current owner and custodian of the football club.
Inside this book, we answer some big questions:
1. What assumptions did Farhad Moshiri make before and during his ownership?
2. Why did things not work out the way he meant them to, on and off the field - not for the club and its fans, nor too for Moshiri?
3. What are the lessons to be learned from the Moshiri years, for the club, for its new owners, and for its supporters?
4. Most importantly, in what condition was Everton FC at the dawn of the Friedkin era? And is there a brighter future ahead for the football club?
In short, through our series of books, audiobooks and videos, we aim to update the Everton Timeline and explain what went on behind the scenes as well as on the pitch. Ours is the ‘unofficial’ version of events - the version guaranteed never to be included on the club's website, nor on the walls of the stadium. Buckle up for the ride. It's a truly fascinating story.

“Brilliantly written and packed with detail. The amount of things you forget over the years is ridiculous. So much has happened over this period, it’s fascinating to look back at it all. Well worth reading. You won’t be disappointed.”

-
“The definitive view of the Moshiri years is already here, from 2014 until (just about) the day before yesterday. In this expertly researched tome the two authors ask all the right questions and search for all the answers. Consequently, the book is everything the club was not during the time: well-planned and structured, cohesive and leaving you wanting more.
Gavin Buckland

Andy Howard

“This is a supremely researched and detailed foray into the most tumultuous spell of Everton’s recent history. I really looked forward to this updated second edition. One final look before we all as a club start to look forward to a brighter future under the Friedkin Group.”
Adam McCulloch

-
“During what has been a stressful and turbulent 8 years, this book brilliantly chronicles what unfolds. The story, obviously, is a tough read as the club descends. But it’s a really important book to document the darkness and dysfunction, hopefully into future light. Super read for all Evertonians.”
